Action Against Hunger For over 25 years have been at the forefront of the fight against hunger and malnutrition worldwide. In the most affected countries, its teams do their utmost day after day to ensure that people are given access to the most basic of human rights- the right to food. Action Against Hunger brings assistance either during the crisis itself through emergency intervention, or afterwards through rehabilitation and sustainable development programmes. Its activities include the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of malnutrition and food security, agriculture and water and sanitation programmes. An international, non-political, non-religious and not for profit making organization, Action Against Hunger helps more than 4.2 million people in some 43 countries around the world. Actionaid is a unique partnership of people who are fighting for a world without poverty, in which every person can exercise their right to a life of dignity. We work with poor and marginalised people to help eradicate poverty by overcoming the injustice and inequity that cause it. Blue Cross - Lady and her six puppies are very happy and healthy dogs that all now live in loving homes. The sad thing is that Lady was very nearly put to sleep. If she had not been rescued by The Blue Cross, Lady, like thousands of dogs across the UK, would almost certainly not be here today… Lady and her pups are just seven amongst more than 6000 unwanted, stray and abandoned animals that are taken in by The Blue Cross each year. This Christmas thousands of animlas lives will be at risk - The Blue Cross is working harder than ever before to find and rescue stray and unwanted pets that would otherwise be put down. In 2007 The Blue Cross expects to take in 400 dogs from other organisations that simply do not have the resources, or the facilities to care for the number of animals that come through their doors. Children In Crisis - there are 77 million children worldwide who are not able to go to school. Often they are living in severe poverty and can not afford to go to school and many are the innocent victims of civil wars and conflicts. Schools are often destroyed during wars and with few if any trained teachers, there’s no chance for these children to learn the skills they need to find a way out of poverty. Children in Crisis is working towards ending this injustice by providing an education to children in 9 countries around the world. Our aim is that all children will have the chance to go to school, wherever in the world they are and however poor they might be. Children will always be the most vulnerable members of society; in times of an economic crisis, a political upheaval or a war, they will be the ones who suffer the most. A chance to go to school can provide a safe and secure environment in which to learn and rebuild their lives. CLIC Sargent - every day 10 families are told their child has cancer. As the UK's leading children's cancer charity, CLIC Sargent is the only organisation to offer them all round care and support. That’s because we’re there every step of the way: During treatment – providing specialist nurses, doctors, play specialists, Homes from Home In hospital & at home – offering specialist social care and family support in the community – specialist youth services, holidays, grants, helpline After treatment – helping survivors, supporting those bereaved..
